Swim Lessons

Belle had her first swim lesson today. She was excited and had a great time. There were only 3 in the class so it was nice that they all got a lot of one on one time with the teacher.

The teacher's name was Keenan (not sure how he spells that) and he wasn't more then a kid himself but he was good with the kids and patient. Actually I think he was the perfect type of teacher for Belle in this setting. Very big brotherly in his efforts to get her to try things.

For every task they did Belle would say "I can't do that! I'm not doing that!" And he'd just smile and say "yeah ya can. Come on." And he would gently but purposefully just haul her out into the water to do said activity. She'd of course fuss at him with things like "don't you dare let go of me!" but she'd go along with it and at the end would be very proud of herself and yell "I did it!" She would then turn to the next kid and encourage them to do it saying "I did it! You can do it too!" This routine was played out for every single activity... even repeats of ones they had already done. Too cute.

The last activity was practicing to jump into the pool. First they sat on their butts and scooted in with Keenan holding their hands. Next they jumped in. Each time Belle did it her head went completely underwater... something she doesn't really like. But she didn't have a fit she just told the teacher "Don't you do that again buster!" :) He just smiled with this look on his face as if to say "I didn't know 5 year olds talked like that!" But he would haul her back into the next jump anyway... and she'd fuss at him again, but with a smile and in good humor.

Afterwards I showered her off and asked if she had fun. She said loudly "Oh yeah!"
