Play - Emperor's New Cloths

It's Play Season again! The Redmond Second Story Theater has started their kids' plays up and the first one for this season was "The Emperor's New Cloths". It was wonderful as always. Belle's favorite actor was the Emperor. I can't remember if the actor's name is Richard or Robert... need to find out. But anyway, Belle just loves him. And he always remembers her. Apparently he's also a Nightmare Before Christmas fan so that of course scores big points in Belle's book.

The play was great in itself but had an extra fun moment when they did the kid interaction part. They picked 3 kids to come up and help hold the invisible clothing for the Emperor. Belle had not wanted to sit down on the floor with the other kids but the moment they started picking kids she flew out of her chair so fast she actually tripped and fell! But that didn't slow her down she just ran up and sat right in front. Of course then the actor doing the choosing went and picked a kid that was seated. Luckily the other actor must have seen Belle's enthusiasm and pointed directed the actor picking the kids towards her. Once chosen Belle sighed loudly "FIIINALY!" :) Which got some laughs and the lady sitting behind me said to me smilingly "I think a star is born." I just laughed "oh yeah."

So she was where she wanted to be, up on stage. But then per usual they have to pick on one adult too. So the actor looked around and his eyes almost instantly fell right on Brad! So Brad got picked and Belle just squealed with joy saying "That's my Daddy!" So Belle held the Emperor's invisible vest and Daddy got the cloak. It was so cute seeing them up there together. Made me wish that we somehow had tapes or something of the plays Brad had been in in high school. I think Belle would really get a kick out of seeing those.

Anyway, they played their parts and then came back. Belle ran up to me all excited. I swear if she doesn't become an actress I will be shocked! She just loves it and has not one ounce of stage fright in her bones.

After the play Belle said she had to go potty. So we went but there was a bit of a line. By the time we got out the actors where starting to come back in from meeting with the audience. Luckily Brad and Gaga where there to inform them that their biggest fan hadn't got to see them yet.

Robert (or Richard) greeted Belle with a big ole smile and hug. And then scooped her up and gave her the a tour of the theater and hunted down the few actors who had started to head back to change. He asked if we have gotten her into acting classes yet. I told him not yet since most seemed to start at 6 and Belle was only 5. Turns out he too has a daughter Belle's age. Figures he'd be a daddy since he's so good with kids.

It was another great play and outing. I am so glad we have this theater in town. And I bet before too many years go by Belle will be in one of these plays.
