Last Day of 1st Grade

Bless her heart you can just see the stress in her face in the picture of her with her bird house.

Belle's last day of first grade was today. The other day they had a party in class. I told her I would come and I did! But I was 7 minutes late and I come in to find her horribly upset thinking I wouldn't be there. The other mom's asked her if I had said I would be there, she said 'yes' and they then tried to reassure her that if I said I'd be there I would be. It took her awhile to relax once I got there and then she soon started stressing about my having to leave again. But the real issue wasn't my presence it was that she is so stressed about the end of school. She is worried about 2nd grade and is worried about missing her friends and her teacher who she likes very much. Basically it's all stress about change.

But she made it through the year and did amazingly! She really really has come a long way since the beginning of the year. She got a good report card, amazing test results in reading, and socially she has just grown so much! She has friends and gets along with her classmates, and her teacher just adores her.

She made her teacher a wonderful gift for her teacher. A frame she painted with a picture of them and she drew her picture as well.
