7 Year Check Up

I can't believe she's 7!

Appointment went well. Belle is in great health for the most part. She' 54 pounds and 4.1 feet tall!... and yes Doctor says she is tall for her age. :) Thanks to Grandpa Kerry for that!

I spoke with the doctor about two issues. First was her eating and nutrition. Belle is still an insanely picky eater but the doctor assured me that she is healthy and growing fine and despite being lanky is not too thin. We talked about what she will eat and how she is doing with trying new things. It was helpful for me to talk about with her because it helped me realize that Belle is improving... very slowly but still improving. :) She no longer freaks out if I suggest she try something like she use too, and is more willing to try things. Rarely likes anything new :) but trying is the first step!

The other thing we talked about was Belle's sinuses and poor sleeping. Belle is constantly stuffed up and snores like crazy. We have her on two pillows at night, a nose strip, and a humidifier and nothing helps. Sometimes I have to give her a nose spray just so she can breath at night! And she sleep horribly and always complains of being tired. Her doctor said first step is to retest her for allergies. So we scheduled that. She also looked at Belle's tonsils and said she has HUGE tonsils and that could be adding or causing the problem. She may down the road need those and her adnoids out. She gave me the number for an ears, nose, and throat doctor but said first step even they will insist on is allergy testing and if applicable trying treatment for that first.

She agreed we have to fix this for Belle so we have a plan. Poor Belle however... I'm not happy with the idea of allergy meds or surgery for tonsil removal. :( But sleep is so important we gotta do what we gotta do! I told Belle that the allergy testing won't be fun but it'll be quick and she needs it. She asked about the tonsils and I told her it would be a surgery if we come to that but that they would put her out for it so she wouldn't feel that and then after she'd get to eat all the ice cream she wanted... she said "OH!? Okay let's do that!!" :)

Anyway, all in all a good exam and Belle was excellently behaved of course. :) Such a big girl now!!

Oh! I almost forgot, the nurse asked Belle a bunch of questions about things she likes or dislikes... Belle was funny when she asked if she liked Math. Belle looked at me and I could tell she was worried about saying "no." I assured her she could be honest and wouldn't get in trouble. She then turned to the nurse and said "NO WAY!" :) Funny cause really she is good at math.
