Belle-Finger · 2/23/2008

The other night Belle asked me "Do we know anyone who only has four fingers?" I thought for a moment and realized what she was thinking of. I'd told her once before about Great-Grandpa only having four fingers on one hand. I reminded her of that and she asked how he lost it. I gave her the short answer that he was jumping down out of a plane and it got caught on something and came off. She said, "Oh, well then I'll make him one out of clay and we can go give it too him, he can wear it when he needs it and call it his Belle-Finger."

Dana Posted: Mar 02, 2008: Dad was very pleased. Oh, does Belle understand how wonderful having a missing finger can be? As in pretending your finger is all the way up your nose?

Unfortunatly Belle hasn't been around her great-grandpas enough to experience those joys.

Awhile back Jerusha and Melissa were discussing their grandfathers. I don't remember about Melissa other grandfather but both Dad and Floyd were missing fingers. Floyd was had 8 full fingers & 2 half fingers which of course works out to only 9 fingers. So Jerusha was thinking that grandpas never had more than 9 total fingers . . . it was a "grandpa thing".
