Appointment time: 9:45am
Saw: Dr. Tracey Johannsen
Well today's appointment didn't go how I thought it would. My doctor is fine with her being big and the ultrasound results. But my blood pressure was a bit high and my swelling has not gone down. I'm tipping the scales something terrible now but it is most all from the swelling!
So she hooked me up to a fetal monitor to check things out. Baby is doing fine. I have also been having lots of Braxton-Hicks contractions. Once I was laying down my blood pressure went back to normal. So the doctor felt this was a good sign that I should take some bed rest.
She grudgingly allowed me to go to work long enough to wrap things up and that was it! I mean wrap them up in a few hours not a day or two!
So I am now home on strict bed rest for a week. Next week if I am doing well the doctor may let me return to work part-time. If not then I'm home for good... Well until she's born and all that. :)
And so you all won't worry, the doctor said she is not worried about me and the baby. This is common in women in the later parts of pregnancy. Especially those who work a lot as I do. The important thing is for me to just rest and since Brad and my mom where both there to hear her say that... I'm sure they will make sure I do just that. :]
Otherwise baby is healthy but big. Her estimated weight right now is 6lbs 4oz. A "normal" sized baby at this stage usually only weighs 5 1/2lbs. So she's a little big. :)
From my journal: "I'm a little grumpy today since bed rest goes very much against my personality. Not just because of work but because I wanted to use as much of my maternity leave as I can when she's here not just me laying in bed watching day time TV. But work and spending time with her do come second to her and my health so I'll deal.
The nursery is pretty much done and looks good. We've got the car seat installed and our bags packed so we're pretty much ready. We're getting excited."
