Big Baby · 3/5/2003

So my doctor said my tummy was bigger then she felt it should be for where I was in my pregnancy, so she wanted me to have another ultrasound. Mostly she was concerned about the due date. So she sends me in for an ultrasound to determine the size of the baby. The ultrasound went fine and the Radiologist comes in and is acting all serious. I had a moment of concern here but then he says "Well judging from the ultra sound your due date is accurate but I must tell you that you are probably looking at an 8.5 pound baby if you go to full term." The way he said it you could tell that he felt he was giving me really scary news. I just said in a tone that I guess had a hint of 'yeah so?' in it "Okay...." He looked at me a little oddly and said "That's going to be a pretty big baby." I finally got it and remember saying something like "Oh that's nothing for my family." :) Belle ended up being just over 8 pounds. But as you can see in the ultrasound pictures they took this go around... she was very squished in there. The picture of me was at 33 weeks... two weeks before the ultrasound picture.

Ya, and I remember hearing how much Belle weighed at a birth and saying, "Oh my, Jerusha had a preemie!" 8 pounds?! Haha...I think up until Belle I was one of the tiniest babies in the family at 8 pounds 11 ounces.

Well if you include me & my siblings, Dana was the runt. She only weighed 7 something! Big babies run in the family! Big babies with Great Big Heads!! :)

Actually, I think Belle would have been bigger but 1)Jerusha needed for her to be born (my poor baby) and 2)there was no more room in there anyway! Like you said, she was squished!!

Dana only weighed 7 something?!?! Dude! :)

Brad's family really does have preemies. Brad and Lisa were both born almost a full month early. Brad had to stay in the hospital the first month of his life. So that I think helped keep Belle "small". :) But it didn't help in the big ole head department that is for sure! ....ouch
