This was our third and possibly last attempt to have a baby. 2 years prior I had an ectopic which was very difficult to get over physically and emotionally. A year after that a miscarriage (very early on so it was easier to deal with then the ectopic). The doctor said I didn't seem to have any problem getting pregnant but that getting in the right place and making it stick was the problem.
I had not liked my OBGYN that I went to for the ectopic and miscarriage so I changed to a doctor in Seattle that a friend of mine highly recommend. I decided to go in for an exam prior to trying again. I didn't meet my would be doctor yet but met with the nurse assistant Shelley. I really liked her and still go to her for my annual exams. She and I talked about my history and she ran a few blood tests. She said that I seemed in good health. She said that the main thing would be for me to call them as soon as I got a positive pregnancy test so that they could monitory it in case it was ectopic again. She said that we could start trying right away and that the only reason to give my body time off the pill first would be to rest my natural cycle to make it easier to figure out when you'd ovulate. Well we decided to start trying right after I finished my last pill.
Our dating anniversary is mid July so we decided as an anniversary gift to ourselves we'd drive up to Vancouver B.C. and spend the night up there. It was a really fun trip. We stopped in Bellingham for lunch, crossed the boarder and stayed at a really nice hotel in downtown Vancouver. I love this town. Its a lot like Seattle but... different. :) We went to the aquarium there that's off in the middle of this forest park.

The aquarium was wonderful, they had a whale that was in labor and actually we found out later gave birth later on the same day we were there! I found that to be a good omen and turned out it was. :) We also saw this great little sea lion who would swim up to this underwater window and look at the humans. He was so playful we could have stayed there all day watching him.
On the drive home the next day I just had a feeling that the trip had been productive and that we were bringing home a little souvenir. :) I also had a feeling even then that it would be a little girl. Sure enough... we now joke "Where'd we get such a cute baby?.... Canada!" :)
