Daddy Log: Time with just me and Belle · 6/6/2004

This afternoon I let my wife and Mother-in-law go off to see the new Harry Potter while I stayed at home with the baby. We all wanted to see the film, but one of us had to stay behind and watch Belle (I'm never gonna be that guy who brings a screaming baby into a packed theater...no sir, not me). I eagerly volunteered.

So instead of going to the movies, I got to spend the afternoon with my baby girl. I had her all to myself and it was a blast. I'm constantly amazed by little girl. She's growing so fast, it's hard to keep up with her. I keep asking my wife, "What happened to that baby we brought home from the Hospital? All I see here is this little kid."

The love I feel for my wife has no equal. This is something different. In this child I see the physical manifestation of my wife and I's love for each other. She's "tangible love", for lack of a better phrase. Seeing her light up whenever I enter the room or reaching for me to pick her up for cuddle are the types of things I live for.

I know that I wax on and on about how great it is being a father in sort of a cream puff kind of way. What can I say? Honestly, all of this stuff really moves me.

She's also got a great sense of humor. She's a little stinker and she knows it. She's got the family sense of humor already.

Little girls are such a blessing to daddies. Belle is blessed she has a dad that adores her as you do.
